Charlie Robinson

Charlie Robinson

Charlie retired in June 2014 but has not retired from ministry and has continued to ‘equip the saints’ in Evangelism, Discipleship, 1-on-1 Disciple-making and Sunday School. He has served at the public school level, university level, the local church, an international ministry and most recently as interim pastor in Munich, Germany for 3 months and returned last fall for another 7 weeks of service.

He served with International Evangelism Association for six years leading workshops around the state of Texas as well as in Alabama, New Jersey, Indiana, Wyoming, Virginia, Kansas, Illinois, Georgia, North Carolina, California, Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Thailand, Ontario and Guatemala. The primary focus of these workshops was to train and equip church members to become multiplying disciple-makers through ‘life-to-life’ ministry.

Prior to serving at IEA Charlie served full-time at First Baptist Church in Belton, Texas for 20 years as Minister of Education and later as Minister of Evangelism and Discipleship. During that time he has also served as adjunct professor in the School of Christian Studies at the University of Mary Hardin – Baylor also located in Belton where he taught Evangelism/Discipleship for 15 years. While at FBC he traveled to Italy, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Paraguay, Indonesia, Haiti, Missouri, Minnesota, Oregon and throughout the Lone Star state on mission endeavors. He has also served on the board of ‘Disciple All Nations’.

Charlie received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in Biology in 1971 and graduated with his Master’s degree in 1973, both at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.  He taught biology and coached in public schools until arriving in Belton, Texas as the head baseball coach at the University of Mary Hardin – Baylor in 1977. There he served as baseball coach for four years, Dean of Students for two years and then Vice-president for six years. It was then, after being discipled there, that First Baptist Church called him to serve full-time on their staff.

Throughout his 40 years as a member and then as a staff member at FBC he experienced the disciple-making process from both sides as one who was first discipled by Godly men upon arriving there and then challenged and equipped to do the same from that time until today. His greatest passion is to see people come into an eternal relationship with Jesus Christ and then to spend a lifetime making Him known and helping others grow in His likeness. He currently serves as a lay leader at Lakeview Baptist Church in Belton training Sunday School leaders and equipping members in evangelism and discipleship.

2 Timothy 2:2 is Charlie’s life verse as he desires to meet weekly with young men one-on-one to ‘entrust to them what was entrusted to him so that they may teach other faithful men also’.

Charlie has been married to Janice for 44 years and has a daughter Stacie, who also lives in Belton, Tx with her husband, Matt, and his awesome grandson’s, Kyle, 16 and Noah, 13. It is his desire to finish strong in the final quarter of his life training folks in evangelism and training and equipping men and women in ‘one-on-one’ disciple-making so they can do the same for generations to come.
