I have been a member of Lakeview Baptist Church for about 15 years, and a deacon for a total of 30 years.
I became a Christian at an early age, probably around the age of 10. I was raised in Christian home and both parents were Christians. I grew up going to Sunday School and church at a Hispanic mission in Itasca, Texas. I learned Christian values from my parents and Sunday School teachers. At a revival in Waxahachie, Texas I felt God touched my heart and I realized that I needed to give my life to Christ. I understood that it took more than going to church to receive salvation. I went forward during the invitation and received Christ.
God has blessed me my entire life. I feel God has shown me how fortunate I am to have my family. I lost my oldest brother recently and God has helped me to see how important family is. I can see the impact that my brother had on his community and family. Through his example I see how much of a positive influence we can have on those we see in our daily lives.
John 10 vs 27-28 says “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand”.
These verses give me great assurance. Christ is my shepherd and He knows me, better than I know myself. He has done so much for me, including giving me eternal life and no one can take me away from Christ.
